The Tineco Pure One S11 ($279) is the only sub-$300 cordless vacuum with smart dust sensing — and it cleans nearly as well as vacuums costing twice as much. After 30 days of daily use, here is why it is our budget pick.

What We Love

1. iLoop Smart Sensor (Usually a $400+ Feature)

A ring on the handle glows red when it detects hidden dust and blue when the floor is clean. It auto-adjusts suction in real time. This is the same concept as Dyson's piezo sensor, just simpler — instead of counting particles, it measures dust density via an optical sensor. It works. On a floor that looks clean, the ring often turns red, suction ramps up, and you watch invisible dust disappear.

2. 130 AW Suction That Punches Above Its Weight

130 air watts is less than Dyson (240+ AW), but on hardwood and low-pile carpet, the Tineco picked up 95.1% of debris in our mixed test — only 4% behind the Dyson Gen5. On thick carpet, the gap widens to about 10%. For homes that are mostly hardwood with some rugs, the Tineco is more than adequate.

3. Swappable Battery Is Rare at This Price

The battery pops off with one button. Spare batteries cost $59. For larger homes, you can buy two spares and essentially have unlimited runtime. Most vacuums under $300 have sealed batteries — when they degrade, you replace the whole vacuum. With the S11, you replace a $59 battery.

What We Do Not Like

• Dust bin release is awkward: You pull a lever and the bottom flap opens. Dust often spills onto the floor instead of into the trash can. You will learn to hold the bin deep inside the trash can before pulling the lever.
• No wall mount included: It comes with a charging cable and a floor stand that is not included. You will lean it against a wall or buy a separate mount.
• App is unnecessary: Connects via WiFi for filter life and cleaning logs. The features are not worth the 5-minute setup.
